Osamu Tezuka: The Secret of Creation

A wonderful blog post by Cathy Munroe Hotes on Nishikata Eiga got me thinking. The post was inspired by a 1986 NHK TV documentary, which was part of the package for buyers of my book about Tezuka in the hardback English-language edition.

Tezuka was a real TV pundit, and authentic 21st-century celebrity years ahead of his time. There must be many hours of his TV appearances lurking in film store-rooms in Japan.

Wouldn’t it be amazing if Tezuka Pro and NHK could get together and release a DVD collection of these priceless archive documents, subtitled? Of course it would be expensive, but that’s one Kickstarter I’d happily sign up for.

Oh well, I can dream…
