New Barbican Japanimation season update

The new season seems to be going well so far. You’ll be able to see some very exciting anime and talk to anime-makers – if you’ve already booked, that is. Tickets are still available for the October and November sessions but they’re selling fast.

This month I’ll be talking to Masahiro Ando and Masahiko Minami of Studio Bones, alongside a screening of Sword of the Stranger, on which they worked together. If you have any questions you’d like to put to the duo, either about Sword of the Stranger or about some other aspect of their work in the anime industry, let me know and I’ll try to make sure your question is included.

In November we’re colonising the wide open spaces of Cinema 1 for a Japanimation double bill – Ponyo and Mai Mai Miracle. Cinema 2, the Japanimation series’ usual home, is great, but everyone who came along to the Osamu Tezuka season is September 2008 will remember that everything’s much bigger in Cinema 1 – you can almost fall in to the picture and the sound is massive. But if you want to check it out for yourself, get on line and book now. There are only a handful of seats left for Ponyo and not many more for Mai Mai Miracle. Booking seats for both at the same time gets you a 20% discount.

And keep your eyes open for news about our plans for January 2010 and beyond!
